Photography- Final Piece

For my final piece I decided that I wanted to take pictures of flowers, mainly for the fact that I like and am good at taking photos of flowers. Below this text you will find all the other edited photos I took for my final piece and below that all the un-edited photos i took for my final piece, but in the end this image was my favorite, so this is the photo I'm using for my final piece.

Final Shoot All Edits- Improved

Here are all the edits that I'm choosing my final piece from.

All these photos were taken at a garden centre near my school.

In these photos I used color selection/splurge and on one of my photos that is the silver ball ball i used the burn and dodge tool to remove myself from the image as that ball ball is mirrored.

These photos were all taken at a garden centre near my school.

Photography Evaluation- Improved

In this photography course I have learned how to edit photos will some level of skill and have also learned that I'm a natural with a camera (not my words I'm not that vain). I now know what ISO and Aperture is, what they are used for and now have some understanding on how to use them to develop my images.

I've enjoyed going out and taking all these photos, even tho i thought i wouldn't.

But I haven't enjoyed the editing part of the photos as I wasn't very good at it to begin with and I'm still not really but I'm starting to get the hang of it.

Trial Photos For Final Piece

For my final piece i decided that i wanted to have pictures of nature, but i didn't know what part of nature i wanted to take pictures of so i went out around my college and started taking pictures. All the images i took are above this paragraph. From these photos i figured out that i wanted to take pictures of brightly colored flowers.

Trial Shoot Feedback

Pictures of nature – I like the way you have focused into a main object and blurred out the rest of the image. You have also caught the sunlight very well in some pictures.

Multi Sports Evening – I like how you have caught people having conversations. The picture of the champagne and the faded room of people is my favourite because it emphasises how people are having a good time.

I really like the pictures of the nature, you did good job doing the close ups and had a good focus on the plants, I especially like the picture of the mushroom that looks like it was melting. To improve you could play bit more with the ISO and F-stop. – Jan Palusinki

Within the extreme close up shots of the plants the bokeh is effectively showing depth of field. Added to this the lens flare gives another element to think about. Some of the images that are showing close up objects are slightly under exposed and therefore not entirely clear or eye catching if simply flicking through the images.

1-  I have learned that most of my photos are that with the blur sometimes the blur creeps on to areas of an image I don’t want them too.

2- The feedback that I gained was only a little useful if I honest, from the feedback I don’t really understand how I need to improve.

3- From the feedback I have learned that people think that I’m very good at taking close up shots and nature.

4- This will help my planning as I understand that I do the best I can when I’m taking close up shots with only part of the image in focus.

5-  I need to work on the blur overtake.

Multi Sports Center Open Evening- Improved

These photos were all for the multi sports centre opening at my school. I've included them onto this page as I have been told i can use these images as trial photos. These photos include AFC Bournemouth manager Eddie Howe and the former mayor of Bournemouth Ted Taylor.

Photoshop Edits- Improved

Making a  word out of photos 'rOAD'.

I took separate images of different items around my school;

The r is made from a basket ball post I'm one of the schools playgrounds.

The O is made from a light in one of the school corridors.

The A is a bench in the same playground as the basket ball post.

The D is made from a CD award on the wall by the schools main office. After i took the photo i merely cropped the image in half.

For this eye i had to follow a tutorial that was given to the class to help develop our photoshop skills.

Other Pictures Taken By Me

These photos were taken at the beginning of the photography course in order to help me gain more of an understanding in how to use the camera.

Comparison with a professional

The picture on the left was taken by me in a  garden centre near my collage. In the photo the colors of the flower clearly stand out from the background especially the red against the black and white background. For this photo to get to the stage it is at now I have to take multiple photos of the flower as the ones before didn’t live up to my standards, so I kept snapping away until I got the photo I was looking for. After I had taken the photo I then had to edit it, I did this by going on photoshop and simply making the background black and white. To do this I had to learn how to use photoshop as I had never really used it before.

The photo in the right was taken by a professional photographer called Patrick Zephyr. The photo consists of brightly colored tulips and a bright clear blue sky in Massachusetts. I chose to compare this photo with mine because the colors are similar and both images contain flowers.

Types of Photography

In the world of photography, Fashion Photography is one of the most sought after careers since it is one of the most highly paid jobs. Fashion photographers are sought out to create portfolios for budding and experienced models. Fashion Photographers are like the gateway to the glamour world.

Beauty Photography is similar to portrait photography as the photographer brings out the real beauty of his models through his talent. The best beauty photography happens when there is a right combination of trust, lighting and imaginative skills from both the model and the photographer.

Rain photography is a picture in which rain is being used to create a stunning picture by taking what could be just an ordinary picture and making it look magical by adding a rain element to the image.

Nature Photography doesn’t involve only plants or trees; it involves the natural scenery as seen through the photographer’s eyes. It can be landscapes, hills, waterfalls or anything that can be captured outdoors.

Time lapse Photography is the best way to capture motion. This involves continuous shooting of a specific subject at different time intervals.

Past and Present photography is where two time periods clash into one photo, normally of the same place just a few generations time difference between the time of the pictures.

Micro photography is when a camera zooms in so far that it catches detail that is not visible to the naked eye. This is used especially for images of insects.

What I Have Learnt From Taking Photos

While taking these photos i realised that taking good photos, is a lot harder than i thought. but while taking them i experimented with different ISO's, F-stops and distances when taking photos.

I learned that when taking photos of natural things around me that it is better to take them close up for a more impactive image that stands out more.

I also learned how to do basic edits on my photos. i had never used photoshop before but after a little help from both my teacher and friend, I managed to edit my photos with some level of skill and effectiveness.
